The Binghamton University Student Branch of ASHRAE was officially chartered in January 2017. The Student Branch works closely with the Twin Tiers chapter to give students the tools to succeed to the HVAC&R industry. The branch promotes career and educational opportunities, including direct access to scholarships, the ability to network with companies across the nation, as well as exposure to the engineering software used by these companies.

The annual ASHRAE winter conference is the world’s largest gathering of HVAC&R professionals to share academic and professional initiatives. Several events of interest include various student tours, multiple workshops and seminars, and an opening session featuring ASHRAE President Darryl K. Boyce and a keynote speech from Ed Hochuli. Attending this conference is a valuable opportunity for students to network with professional engineers in the field, as well as learn more about the HVAC&R industry through local plant tours, workshops, and seminars. This year, the conference is being held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida and the Binghamton Student Branch of ASHRAE is seeking funding to help curtail expenses so active students will be able to reap the benefits of attending.
